Romans 7

Ch 7:

vs 1-7 - the end of Paul’s thoughts about being dead to sin and alive to God.

vs 7 - The power of the law -

The law always REVEALS sin.  Law is  the means of disclosing the sinful propensity of man.  The measuring stick that keeps telling us, “you don’t measure up!”

Just like light reveals the dust in a room - it didn’t make that dust.  that dust is there whether you can see it or not, but when the beam of light shines through REVEALS the truth of the state of the air.

The sin nature of a broken human being hears the law and immediately has a new line to cross.  A new way to rebel.  I new way to proclaim Himself God.

When the law becomes how we relate to God we have lost.  We will go one way or the other.  We will either rebel - and declare ourselves God by rejecting the law or we will use the our best attempt at obeying the law as a way to say to God - YOU OWE ME - I paid my taxes - you OWE ME.  When, in truth, even if we were to fulfill the whole of the law, which we never will, we would only have brought ourselves to a zero level - will have ceased earning destruction, but never had earned favor.

vs 10-11 - the very commandment which was given to teach me wisdom, to show me God’s beauty, brought death in my life because (vs11) used the commandment to deceive me.  Just like God’s admonition in the garden to not eat the fruit.  Satan used the rule itself to trick us.

OK lets read this next part of scripture correctly!

from vs 7 and following Paul takes on the persona of a Jew who has not received salvation.

this is why I believe this…

READ Chapter 8!!

does this sound like the same guy?  NO It sounds like two different people!

Romans 6

Ch 6:

vs 1 - what shall we say then?  are we to continue in sin that grace might abound??? -

vs 2 - NO NO NO! A very emphatic NO in the Greek.  AS if it were offensive to even say such a thing!  Indeed it IS!

WE ARE DEAD TO SIN!!!!!!!  most of the church does not understand or value this reality but it is so vital! - in the same way a deaf person is dead to sound, or a blind person is dead to vision, we are dead to sin.  It has no influence over us.  That might sound like a “wouldn’t that be nice” kind of statement, but Paul makes it clear that this is a present reality in the life of a Christian!  We have nothing to do with it.  Would you keep a dead person in your house and have dinner or go about the activity of your life with them?  NO you wouldn’t that’s really gross, but we do that if we allow sin to continue to influence us.

---Please note something here - does it say you “are being crucified”?

vs 3 we died to sin with Jesus - dead and buried in his death and burial via faith and baptism:  the old man died.  Our inability to say no to sin died.  That is good news!

Our baptism was a sign of consecration - being set apart.  Dedicated to God completely

vs 4 - but even better news!  WE ARE NOT JUST DEAD - WE ARE resurrected with Him as well!!! The power of sin is broken and that is great, but even better,  the LIFE OF GOD has been released in us to be LIKE HIM - “we walk in newness of life”  newness has been given to us as an eternal gift!  He makes all things new!  We love the new everyone does! Now because of Jesus - We ARE the new - forever!!!! NEW.  1 Pet 1:3-4: a living hope, an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled and unfading!

vs 6 - 10 the body of sin - YOUR body of sin - has been brought to nothing!  Crucified.  Slaves are only slaves for life.  you died but now you LIVE AGAIN.

This is what theologians call our “Mystical Union” with Christ.  By faith we have been JOINED to him in covenant.  In that covenant His death becomes ours and His life becomes ours as well.  He brings all He is and all He has to this covenant.  Our capacities are not important anymore.  His capacities have become ours.  His righteousness, His mind, His faith even.  Is ours to access

vs 11 - you must consider yourself dead to sin and ALIVE TO GOD - awake, sensitized, open, aware of God.  You never were before but you are now!

vs 12 - do not allow yourself to live like you were.  You are not like that anymore.  Curb the patterns and the appetites that once ruled you.  That is not who you are anymore - there is an active participation by faith in this reality.  A leaning into grace.  A daily putting on of the new man.

vs 13 - you are an instrument of righteousness - a new creation thing.  The first fruit from the Dead!!!!

vs 14 - you are not under law - its not about the measuring stick anymore.  You’ve passed by the “you must be this tall to ride” thing.

you are under grace - you are in the place where you are empowered to be like Christ - so receive it - walk in it.

Vs 16 slaves to righteousness

Vs 17 obedient from the heart

Romans 5 - Old Podcast

I had to move the old episodes of my podcast over to this podcast because the old server is no longer up and running.

CH 5:

vs 1 since we have been justified by faith - we have made peace with God - the justice of God is satisfied - the wrath of God is nullified - our debt is paid - we have no record anymore!!!! (this can ONLY happen by faith in what Jesus did on the cross)

vs 2 - 5 we have also BY FAITH gained access into the grace by which we now stand!

Grace means "a free gift" Paul is saying - "but wait there's more"

Not only do we have peace with God but now we gain the following free gifts -

  1. Standing in Grace - the place of full acceptance and FAVOR in the eyes of God - we are HIS CHILDREN -
  2. the hope of the Glory of God - this is more massive than you can possibly imagine - we have been given to experience, celebrate and REFLECT the glory of God forever and ever!!!! - 1 Pet 2:9, Eph 3:10
  3. The reality that even our suffering is a MEANS of God giving us free gifts - James 1:2-4 - endurance, character (the very character of God), hope - which does not EVER disappoint BECAUSE
  4. God shows forth His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit

vs 6 God worked all this for us WHILE WE STILL HATED HIM - Paul is reminding us once again that we did not, and could not, earn ANY of what we have by grace through faith in Jesus finished work on the Cross.

 - That is why we KNOW that our hope will never disappoint us because if He did that for us while we were SO messed up how much more will He do for us NOW that we are clean, and free, and standing in His favor!!!

vs10 His death has justified us - HIS LIFE will make us alive MORE and MORE 2 Cor 4:10-11 resurrection power surging out of us from the inside!!!, Also we have a LIVING High Priest who LIVES forever to make intercession for us! Heb 7:25 - MORE THAN THAT - we rejoice in God.  God is the treasure.  God is the reason this is good news!  we Get GOD!!!

This is what happened - God’s eternal plan for mankind - THIS IS NOT PLAN B!!!

vs 12 - 13  the sin of one man brought sin and death into the world - death was set loose in all of Adams descendants - all of mankind was drown in death

vs 15 - But the free gift is not like the trespass - The power of Grace has gone FAR beyond the power of Sin!!!  we aren’t just getting back what we’ve lost - we are gaining SO MUCH MORE!!  WE get Eden back but we get Heaven as well - it is God’s ultimate design that HIS dwelling be with man HERE on the Earth.  NOT like it was in the beginning but something more!  Rev 21:3 - the most joyful thing in scripture

Where sin abounded GRACE MUCH MORE ABOUNDED!!!!

IMC Bible Study Eph 1:7-10

7In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace

  • Redemption - the ransom has been paid
    • we were captives and the ransom has been paid for our release
    • the blood of Jesus was the only thing that could have secured our release from captivity
  • Forgiveness of our trespasses
    • the places where we stepped off of the path
    • the mistakes
  • We should live in constant revelation of the riches of His grace
    • understand grace is more than mercy
      • mercy is not getting what we deserve - what we have coming never comes
      • grace is getting what we do not deserve - what we never had coming, never earned, never deserved gets dropped in our laps for free

8which He lavished on us.

  •  LAVISHED - given to us over and above what could ever be expected.
    • His grace OVER FLOWS
    • think of a bite that you took that was WAY TOO BIG
    • Or drinking from a firehose
    • that is how God gives grace

In all wisdom and insight9He made known to us the mystery of His will,

  • Through His wisdom
    • He did it in the wisest way
    • the way God unveils His will is wise - it is the most loving thing he can do and he does it in the most loving way
      • sometimes it feels like he is hiding things from us and we don’t like it, but he does it perfectly
      • he reveals things when it will be most advantageous to US - never doubt his goodness (see the end of this verse.
  • Because of His wisdom
    • It was wise of Him to do so
    • Believe it or not God showing you Himself is a wise thing for him to do
      • His saving you was a wise thing
      • His loving you was a wise thing
  • Showing his wisdom
    • He demonstrated His wisdom through the plan of salvation
    • He shows the universe how wise He is in the way that he reveals His will

according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him

  • Again we are reminded of His kindness - never forget that ALL that God does he does for Loving reasons, for kind reasons.  He is always being kind to you.  He never stops being kind to you.

10with a view to an administration suitable to the fullness of the times, [that is], the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth.

  • The Message: He set it all out before us in Christ, a long-range plan in which everything would be brought together and summed up in him, everything in deepest heaven, everything on planet earth.
  • All things being brought together in Christ -
    • Christ will be made ruler of all things
    • All things will be brought to Justice and rightness in the cross and the rulership of Jesus
      • the wrong made right
      • the lost found
      • the broken healed
      • sin judged
    • Col 1:15-2215 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. 19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.
21 And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, 22 he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him - ESV

IMC Bible Study Eph 1:5-6

Some words on predestination -

  1. NO ONE WHO WANTS TO BE SAVED WILL BE LEFT OUT - they would not desire salvation if the Holy Spirit was not at work in them.
  2. It is God’s will that ALL should be saved 2 Peter 3:9 - that does not change with this doctrine - he wants everybody but not everybody will come and he already knows who they are.  He could force their choice but he will not.
  3. We cannot know who will be saved or when they will be saved - if they are unsaved now does not mean they will never be.  God’s choice should only make you MORE hopeful not less because essentially its not up to them - think of those you love - do they WANT salvation?  If they don’t are they likely to change their mind?  God however CAN change their mind.  We should ASK for God to change their mind.
  4. Understand that Salvation is a miracle that can only be accomplished by God it is not something we do for ourselves - It is a divine ACT that we only cooperate with.

through Jesus Christ to Himself,

  • Jesus is how we were adopted
  • Jesus is how we were chosen
  • Jesus is how we were blessed
  • every one of these verses says over and over - in Christ or through Jesus - get the picture
  • The gift of the Son to the Father

according to the kind intention of His will,

  • His good pleasure
  • This means he is intentional about it - it is his pleasure
  • In the Greek there is the connotation of this being an intention to be kind.
    • it is his pleasure
    • it is good - he desires good for us
  • God is kind - Luke 6:35, Rom 11:22, Rom 2:4 "his kindness leads to repentance"
    • He loves being good to us - he takes pleasure in being good to us
    • He is intentional about being good to us

6to the praise of the glory of His grace,

  • Everything God does He does to glorify Himself
    • This is what makes it all worth it
  • Understand the great worth of God - All of this has been about revealing who He is and it is worth it!
    • We will forever be shining trophies of the GLORY of His Grace!
    • The angels will look at you and be in awe at God!
  • Isaiah 62 - "you are the royal diadem, you are the crown of beauty in my hand!"
  • God chose to glorify Himself by forgiving sinners, adopting lost kids, being kind to us - he wants to show the universe this is what he is like.
  • HE CREATED US so HE COULD BE KIND TO US - righteousness is receiving and reveling in the kindness of God

Eph 1:3-5 - Predestination: yes we had to talk about it...

4just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world,

  • He chose us! - lots of people flinch at this verse - but we are going to skip the long conversation (for now) about predestination and just sit in the glory of this passage
  • does God know everything about the future? - yes
    • he chose you! - he picked you! - not because you were more awesome or better than anyone.  Not because he likes you better than anybody.  Just because He chose you.  don’t question it just enjoy it!
    • did he know you would belong to Him? - yes
  • in Him - those that are in Christ - we have been hidden with Christ in God!
    • "I in them and you in me" - Jesus said it that way in John 17
    • We have been surrounded by, and filled with Christ. - he’s all over me and he’s keeping me alive!
    • We are never outside of Christ - we are seated in Him - that should both scare you and make you rejoice!
  • before the foundation of the world
    • The thoughts of God have been on you since before he created anything else
    • The God-head before creation was already in love with you - feel that - believe it because it is true

that we would be holy and blameless beforeHim.

  • wow - you were designed and destined to be holy and blameless
  • shame has no place in you.
  • fear has no place in you
  • It has always been God’s plan for you that you would be holy and blameless
    • holy - set apart - different from the world - just like Him - there’s the world then there’s “other” and that is where you belong
    • blameless - without blemish - flawless - how can he say that about me?  It is who you ARE it is who you WILL BE!

In love 5He predestined us to adoption as sons

  • predestined - OH NO!  how are we going to find a way around it this time?
    • it’s here - no honest student of the Bible can say that the New Testament from the Gospels to the Epistles makes it clear that God chooses His people.
    • does that mean our choice has nothing to do with it…. no it does not mean that.
    • does that mean he chooses who goes to Hell?… we’ll have that discussion another time.
    • For now Just let this mess with your head.  God chooses who will be His.
  • to adoption as sons
    • we are His children
    • People say - “we are all children of God” - that’s not really true -
    • you are children of God - he has set his Father love on you.
    • He has chosen to treat you as one of his kids - think on that.
      • If you walked into the white house and asked president Obama for $5 the secret service would destroy you instantly - do you think his daughters have that problem?
      • we have access
      • privelege
      • inheritance
      • everything he owns belongs to us
      • we inherit his family name

Ephesians 1 A new year, a new class, a new book!

Ephesus - the most wealthy and beautiful city of Asia

Renowned not for trade but as a religious center with the Temple of Diana - This temple was 425 feet in length, and 220 feet in width. It was encompassed by 127 pillars, each 60 feet in height, which were presented by as many kings.

1Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints who are at Ephesus and [who are] faithful in Christ Jesus:

  • an apostle of Christ Jesus - sent with delegated authority
  • by the will of God - this is the only way you become an Apostle!
    • Nobody is an apostle based on gifts or accomplishments -
      • you cannot earn it - it is not a measure of “how far you’ve advanced"
      • we cannot think of the gifts and callings of God and the kingdom as a hierarchy
      • they are different assignments given by the same master to one of his servants
      • we are all God’s kids his sons and coheirs with Christ
      • the higher we go the more of a servant we are
  • to the Sacred ones the ones made holy!  I love it!  that is who you are!  THAT is how you should think of yourself!  you are the one MADE HOLY by God.
    • set apart for the use of God - consecrated...
  • who are faithful - these are the ones who are FULL of faith.  In other words it doesn’t mean those that are

2Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • Grace to you and Peace -- lots of letters of Paul have this greeting
    • Grace - a more Greek greeting
    • Peace - “shalom” a Hebrew Greeting
    • he puts the two together in one greeting
  • Jesus is his earthly name given to him by the angel to Joseph meaning Yahweh Saves
  • Christ is his title as messiah
    • anointed one
    • rubbed - smeared - lavished on
  • our Lord
    • Lord “kyrios” is the Greek replacement for the Jewish “Adonai" - the name above every name, the name that replaced the name Yahweh in the scriptures which was too holy to
    • This is saying that Jesus is God.

3Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

  • He starts with worship - the Apostle Paul LOVED God.  He was caught up in rapture at the glory of God in many of his books and would take off in wild worshipful tangents like this one! - but they are fun to follow!

who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly[places] in Christ,

  • blessed - He has SPOKEN really good stuff over us - divine destiny that we are to dwell in forever
    • the same voice that spoke “let there be light” has spoken divine destiny over you that cannot be taken away
    • He has spoken ALL or EVERY spiritual blessing over you - there isn’t one left to speak! - every possible blessing available from the throne of the creator God has been spoken over you as you dwell in Christ.
  • Now we will go on a tour of some of these heavenly blessings
    • Chosen - to be made Holy and Blameless
    • Adopted
    • Had Grace Lavished on us
    • Redeemed
    • Forgiven
    • Had the mystery of His will revealed to us
    • Obtained an inheritance
    • Sealed with the Holy Spirit
    • Made to the Praise of His Glory and Grace

The End of the World (as we know it) Session 4 part 2 - Revelation

http://prezi.com/aio44x3z-9_d/?utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=copy

The Trumpet Judgements:

  • trumpet 1 - 1/3 of all the earth’s plant life is burned up
  • trumpet 2 - 1/3 of all the earth’s ocean life is burned up by a volcano or meteor thrown into the sea
  • trumpet 3 - 1/3 of the drinkable water is poisoned
  • trumpet 4 - 1/3 of the light is taken (who knows how this works)
  • trumpet 5 - demon locusts released to torment the antichrist’s followers.
  • trumpet 6 - the demonic army is released to kill 1/3 of the people on the planet.  the population is reduced by another 1.5 billion people by this trumpet judgement alone. who knows where we are by this time!?!

God’s prophetic empowering of the church and the two witnesses are in chapter 10 - God is giving the church on the earth special tools to do what they are called to do during this unbelievable time.

At the end of the period of the abomination which causes desolation the two witnesses will be killed but they will be resurrected with the rest of us at second coming of Jesus. We will, as a church, then call Jesus home at the fulness of time.

  • trumpet 7 - Jesus second coming / rapture of the church / release of the bowls of wrath.
    • NOW we have it - the LAST TRUMPET 1 Cor 15:51

Jesus the destroyer of the works of the Devil and the King of all the nations of the earth

Chapter 12 - the history of the struggle that is coming to an end and why it is working the way it is

Chapter 13 - the two major human players on the side of darkness

Chapter 14 - Back to the rapture drama unfolding!

    • Jesus in Jerusalem with the Jews who called Him in - Matt 23:39 (blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord) this is why the antichrist wanted the jews dead!
    • the news goes out to all the world of Jesus victory and the falseness of the enemy - via 2 angels
    • the news goes out about the destruction of all those who have followed antichrist
    • the reaping of both righteous and unrighteous is taking place

Jesus the jealous bridegroom coming for a bride and NOTHING WILL STOP HIM!

Jesus second coming as a procession lasting 30 days NOT an instantaneous moment -

Dan, 7, 9 and 12 and Rev 11, 12, and 13 mention 1260 days (or 42 months, or 3.5 years) as the length of the reign of antichrist, but the end of the abomination is at 1290 days and the full revelation of Jesus reign are 1335.

     Process through the sky -

Process through the land from the south up to Jerusalem

  • Isa 63: Who is this coming up from Bozrah?…why is your apparel red?…. I have stained all my garments….I have poured out their blood on the earth
  • Hab 3: The Lord came from Teman from Mount Peran - I saw Midian tremble  the Cushites in war….

Process into Jerusalem through the armies of antichrist

  • Zech 14:2-9

Chapter 15 - the post rapture heavenly scene vs 1-5 the marriage supper if the lamb - the preparation for the bowls of wrath to be poured out.

     Chapter 16 -

The Bowl Judgements: Released in the earth during this last 30 day period upon the kingdom and followers of Antichrist

  • Bowl 1 - Painful Sores on the worshippers of antichrist
  • Bowl 2 - Ocean turns to blood - Either ALL ocean life dies - OR all humans in that are on or in the ocean die because of the battle - (like the blood of a dead man here meaning that so many dead men’s blood was spilled into the ocean that the whole ocean took on this color.  Either way - wow
  • Bowl 3 - All Fresh water turned to blood as well - this will not affect the church because we are being raptured at this time, notice the worship of the angel for the judgement and then a corresponding voice from the altar - it is not from the saints under the altar because they are no longer there but we harken back to the promise they have been given that their murders will be judged
  • Bowl 4 - The Sun is turned much hotter - it now scorches people with fire but they refuse to repent.
  • Bowl 5 - Darkness and pain in Babylon the capitol city of the Antichrist’s reign - most likely Rome
  • Bowl 6 - Preparation for the final battles (Armageddon) - The Euphrates dries up and the armies of the east begin moving in.  The great delusion gets stepped up a notch to bring ALL armies of the earth together in the valley that goes from Bozrah to Meggido for the battle against the Lord and His army
  • Bowl 7 - Greatest Earthquake in history - 100 pound hail stones… all mountains flattened….Jerusalem split into 3 parts…. every island sinks…

Chapter 17 - The Great Harlot - the idea revolution - the world religion

  • A church or religious movement
  • Rome is most likely the home base for this religion - so it will be combined with the Catholic church probably
  • comes to power with antichrist but then the antichrist coalition will turn on it and take its wealth and destroy it, probably at the abomination that causes desolation.
  • every nation will do business with her
  • The power of this group is built on sex, politics, money, and religion - this sounds so much like the United states to me it is scary.

Chapter 18 - The judgement of the great harlot and the government of antichrist

  • God calls his people out of her to avoid her fate…
  • She boasts
  • God judges her in a single day

Chapter 19 - Back to the party in Heaven (started in chapter 15)

  • Heaven rejoices that the government of antichrist has been destroyed - the armies are not yet destroyed, but just wait!
  • The Marriage Supper of the Lamb happens now - because the whole of the church has been raptured at this point - we are clothed in white and made ready for the final battle
  • Jesus on a white horse!!!
  • All of us on horses and dressed in our wedding clothes!!!!
  • Jesus destroys the armies that have gathered
    • see the Armageddon and second coming hand out from Bickle for a billion scriptures on this.
  • Jesus sends the antichrist and the false prophet to the lake of fire

     Chapter 20 - The 1000 years

  • Satan put in the bottomless pit for 1000 years
  • The saints reign with Jesus for 1000 years
  • vs 5 the souls of those who had been beheaded - this does not exclude the rest of the saints - but the martyrs are given a special job in the millennium so they are mentioned separately.
  • vs 6 if you are a part of the first resurrection you will not be subject to the second death - we are safe

Let’s take a breath - Revelation moves past this 1000 years in a blink but I want to think about this 1000 years together.

  • Jesus is king of the earth
  • the saints ruling with him
  • 13 One like the Son of Man (Jesus)...came to the Ancient of Days (Father)...14 To Him (Jesus) was given...a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him...27 His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve Him. (Dan. 7:13-14, 27)
  • More scripture on how amazing it will be!!!
  • Isa. 2:1-4 Jerusalem will be on the tallest mountain on earth and all nations will go to it for instruction and help
  • 11:1-16; wow so much!  No more death, even the animals won’t fight each other, all nations will peace and rulership will be given to Israel
  • 60-62; There is SO much amazing news in these three chapters!
  • 65:17-25 if someone dies at 100 years old they will be considered young!
  • The new Jerusalem will be here hovering over the earth!!!!  The resurrected saints will live there!!  but we will get to that later...

Jesus the judge of the living and the dead

Ok Breath over now post millennium

  • After this Satan is released for a season
  • he deceives and brings down people from Gog and MaGog to attack Jerusalem and they are burned with fire from Heaven (Gog and MaGog may just mean nations outside the middle east we really aren’t sure)
  • Satan is sent to the lake of fire.
  • The Great White Throne - all the dead are judged except those who have been resurrected before now.
    • The dead who are not written in the book of life - to the lake of fire
    • The believing dead that died AFTER the second resurrection - to everlasting joy!

Jesus the adoring Son who does all things for the love of His Father

     Chapter 21

  • After this the New Heaven and the New Earth are created - the resurrection of all things is accomplished!
  • God and man live together with NO separation at all and Jesus returns authority to the Father forever. (1 Cor 15)
  • The New Jerusalem - made of precious stones - hovering over the earth - the dwelling place of God and his people
  • no more night, no more pain, no more fear

Jesus the Lord of the Church

Chapters 1-3

Jesus communicating with the churches - in their midst - leading them - instructing them - rebuking them - He is the Lord of the Church and that is our only hope!

Jesus the Lamb of God

Chapters 4 - 5

Kinsman redeemer of all mankind and all of creation - paid the price for the redemption of all things

Jesus the unfolder of divine destiny

Chapter 6 - 11

The King of the end times - the opener of the scroll - He is in charge of all that happens from here on out.

Jesus NOT Satan is unfolding the end time scenario and all that happens inside of it.

Jesus has goals - #1 on the list is to demonstrate that human authority, when out from under the rulership of God, brings only brokenness

Seals 1-5 are demonstrations of this. Human rulership without the divine leash.

  • Seal 1 - The antichrist - the idea revolution
  • Seal 2 - World War three - the aftermath of the idea revolution and the progression into violence
  • Seal 3 - The back lash of war - financial ruin / famine
  • Seal 4 - More back lash - plague and wild animals
    • 1/4 of the earth’s population is now dead.  in todays terms that is almost 2 billion people -
    • the population of the United States 6 times over.  ALL dead by this point.
  • Seal 5 - Martyrs - after this the prayers of the martyrs stir God to move the agenda forward

It is my belief that between seal 4 and 5 the abomination which causes desolation has begun (Matt 24:15) (Dan 9:27)

I believe this because it is in this event that the whole world will worship the beast or be killed (Rev 13)

Jesus goal - #2 is to bring justice to his people who have been tortured and murdered for thousands of years

"vengeance is mine” he says well he’s gonna get it beginning with seal 6

  • seal 6 - the great earthquake and signs in the sky - this is a total change from the other seals - these are the actions of God now.  Not just the bad results of man’s foolishness.

Why the interlude in chapter 7?? - ok all this bad stuff is taking place vs 6:17 the question is asked “the wrath of the lamb has come and who is able to stand”  chapter 7 is God’s answer - what happens to God’s people??? We are sealed and we are headed all of the great multitude are headed to an amazing future as the ones saved out of great tribulation!!!  No fear no matter what!  No back to the scene.

  • seal 7 - The release of the prayer movement of the end times in greater power than ever before stirs God’s heart to release the trumpet judgements
    • see that God ordered the angels to stand ready but they did not begin to blow until prayer went out from the church

Jesus goal - #3 to show his total rulership of the earth and even the angelic / demonic realms

this is demonstrated powerfully by the trumpet judgements

The End of the World (as we know it) Session 3 - Dan 9 and Matt 24

Follow along in our visual presentation as a well - http://prezi.com/aio44x3z-9_d/?utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=copy

Daniel 9

Vs 1-19 This chapter begins with Daniel studying scripture!!! - as he sees the prophetic promise of God intercession is birthed in him - this is one of the many reasons God gave us his word!

  • His word is a promise for us to look forward to
  • His word is a way for us to see who he is and what he is like
  • His word is an invitation for us to participate in the activity of the Heart of God - as these things unfold in end days it will be the church praying like Daniel that unleash the promised judgment and the blessing! - Come Quickly Lord Jesus!!!!

Vs 20-23 Gabriel comes and gives him the answer to his prayer

Vs 24-27 Daniel is given understanding - NOT ONLY about the restoration of Israel to the land - but also about the destiny of Israel to the end of time

  • God so often does this we understand his heart for a moment and the generosity of God is unlocked to pour out FAR MORE than we expected or asked for!
    • Abraham - Gen 15 - he meditates on the promises of God and asks for understanding and is given revelation of the entire future of his race
    • David - 1 Chron 17 - he wanted to build the temple - God said no - but then gave the promise of the messiah and the Davidic covenant was born

24"Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city,

  • Seventy “7s” its like our term “decade” it just means 10 - this 7 is referring to 7 years
  • not necessarily consecutive years - just years
  • this is the divine Jerusalem calendar
  • your people and your holy city - the Israeli People and the city of Jerusalem
    • please understand!  This is about Israel and Jerusalem - so there are a lot of things that are NOT mentioned in this prophecy!
    • it does give us a good overview however of God’s timing and plan as regards to the end times

6 promises for Israel and Jerusalem -

  1. to finish the transgression,
    • possibly Israel’s transgression as a people
    • possibly ALL transgression - both will take place in this plan of God
  2. to make an end of sin,
    • to finish the rule of sin
    • sin and all that it will do to the world will be finished - over
    • it’s power will be at an end - forever
  3. to make atonement for iniquity,
    • to appease the wrath of God
    • to make peace where there is offense
  4. to bring in everlasting righteousness,
    • releasing the wisdom of God
    • bring in God’s ways
    • he is not just ending what’s wrong - he is releasing what is right
  5. to seal up vision and prophecy
    • his whole plan will be brought to an end
    • the drama of the human story will be finally unfolded
    • the groaning of creation will be answered
  6. and to anoint the most holy[place].
    • the dwelling of God will be with man
    • His promise to make Jerusalem the place where his name dwells will be fulfilled ultimately and forever

25"So you are to know and discern [that] from the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince [there will be] seven weeks and sixty-two weeks;

it will be built again, with plaza and moat, even in times of distress.

  • We now know the starting point of the 70 week period
  • within the first 69 weeks Jerusalem will be rebuilt
  • it will have a plaza and a moat
  • and it will undergo times of distress
  • 4 possible decrees match this description - Guszik
    • Cyrus made a decree giving Ezra and the Babylonian captives the right to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the temple in 538 B.C. (Ezra 1:1-4 and 5:13-17).
    • Darius made a decree giving Ezra the right to rebuild the temple in 517 B.C. (Ezra 6:6-12).
    • Artaxerxes made a decree giving Ezra permission, safe passage, and supplies to return to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple in 458 B.C. (Ezra 7:11-26).
    • Artaxerxes made a decree giving Nehemiah permission, safe passage and supplies to return to Jerusalem to rebuild the city and the walls in 445 B.C. (Nehemiah 2:1-8).
  • Some say the 483 years were completed at the triumphal entry of Jesus (if dated at A.D. 32). Sir Robert Anderson's significant work The Coming Prince followed this argument in great detail.
    • Anderson, using a 360-day year (which Israel used in Daniel's day), calculated 173,880 days from the decree to the triumphal entry, fulfilling the prophecy to the day. "It is customary for the Jews to have twelve months of 360 days each and then to insert a thirteenth month occasionally when necessary to correct the calendar."
    • "No one today is able dogmatically to declare that Sir Robert Anderson's computations are impossible." (Walvoord)

26"Then after the sixty-two weeks the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing,

  • This is the crucifixion of jesus - but the resurrection of Jesus is not foretold here… interesting

and the people of the prince who is to come

  • Rome - is always connected with Antichrist
  • the prince who is to come - Daniel knows who Gabe is talking about!  he has watched the mystery unfold in his visions previous

will destroy the city and the sanctuary. And its end [will come] with a flood;

  • in 70 AD the city of Jerusalem and the temple were utterly destroyed by Rome (with a flood) means with a great army - and there was that!
  • Jesus prophesied this destruction in Matt 24

even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined.

  • Many wars and many desolations have passed over Jerusalem since then and more are coming

27"And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week,

  • Pay attention!  He’s talking weeks again!
    • there is a gap that opens at Jesus death the 70 weeks get put on pause until the next event
  • the covenant with many - an agreement including Antichrist, pertaining to Israel and Jerusalem - possibly an agreement to allow them to rebuild the temple!
    • we have the beginning of the final week - Daniels 70th week -"The 70th week will begin when the Jewish people are restored in unbelief to their land and city; and among them will be found a faithful remnant, owning their sin, and seeking Jehovah's face." (Henry Ironside writing in 1911)
    • Can you imagine what the world would do for a man who can fix the tensions in the middle east?
    • Can you imagine what the world would do for a man who can disarm the Islamic crisis in that region?
    • How impossible is it that the Jewish temple could be built again in the place of the Dome of the Rock???? - but we know there is a temple again because of the next verse!
    • Much of Israel will think the Antichrist is the messiah - John 5:43
  • Since in AD 70 Israel ceased to exist as a nation many Bible scholars tried to find other ways to interpret verses like this -
    • only since 1948 has Israel been a nation again
    • only since 1967 has Jerusalem been a part of the nation of Israel
    • there is currently no temple - just watch!!!!

but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering;

  • three and 1 half years after the treaty is made the antichrist will stop the sacrifices in the temple

and on the wing of abominations [will come] one who makes desolate,

  • he will perform abominations - we will explore this later in Matt 24
  • one who makes desolate - this is one of the names of Antichrist

even until a completedestruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate."

  • The wrath of God will be poured out upon him and his kingdom
  • complete destruction set loose by his abominations

Matt 24 - Jesus on End Times

3As He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these thingshappen, and what [will be] the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?"

  • There are three questions here - Jesus will answer them all
    • when will “these things happen”? - these things refer to the destruction of the temple Jesus mentions in verse 1 and 2
    • what will be the sign of Your coming
    • and of the end of the age

4And Jesus answered and said to them, "See to it that no one misleads you. 5"For many will come in My name, saying,'I am the Christ,' and will mislead many.

  • A warning from the Lord to be mindful and watchful - there will be false prophets and false Christs who will mislead
  • the antichrist is the greatest of these but not the first or only

6"You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not frightened, for [those things] must take place, but [that] is not yet the end.

  • this is part of the answer for the first question - wars, rumors, not yet the end

7"For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes. 8"But all these things are [merely] the beginning of birth pangs.

  • these are signs and have been happening - Jesus is saying not to freak out at each natural disaster these things are the beginning of birth pains
    • that may mean they are the beginning
    • it may mean they are NOTHING in comparison to all that will come in the time of the end

9"Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name.

  • This was happening from only a few years after Jesus death and resurrection
  • it is happening more now than ever
  • more Christians will die for their faith this year than any year in history
  • The antichrist will conduct the wholesale slaughter of Christians for 3.5 years

10"At that time many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another. 11"Many false prophets will ariseand will mislead many. 12"Because lawlessness is increased, most people's love will grow cold.

  • This is corroborated in Thes - the great falling away
  • The love of MANY - this is scary - will YOU grow cold??

13"But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.

  • Jesus said this again in Revelation to the churches
  • HOLD ON!  Just keep saying yes

14"This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.

  • This sign is one of the most important of all
  • it has yet to come to pass but we get closer every day
  • most missiologists believe that every unreached people group on earth will be reached with the Gospel within 10 years!

Perilous Times

15"Therefore when you see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),

  • Jesus says - “look at Daniel!!!"
  • WHEN YOU SEE - who is he speaking to??? - His disciples - why would he be talking to Jews who would not read his words?  He is talking to us!  OK then please remember this if you want to interpret when we will be caught away.  He is either talking to Christians who are saved after the Rapture - and there will be many - or he is talking to we who are going to be there for this whole thing

16then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains.17"Whoever is on the housetop must not go down to get the things out that are in his house. 18"Whoever is in the fieldmust not turn back to get his cloak. 19"But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in thosedays! 20"But pray that your flight will not be in the winter, or on a Sabbath.

  • RUN!  the all out persecution of the saints and the jews will begin at the Abomination - children will be a burden to our flight as would bad weather or travel constrictions of the Sabbath

21"For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will.

  • I hear Daniel in these words - Dan 12:1

22"Unless those days had been cutshort, no life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.

  • Are you hearing this? - This is the ugliness of sin, This is the holiness of God, this is the truth of His great worth - He is worthy of the end of all life - yet even now he will be cutting it short

23"Then if anyone saysto you, 'Behold, here is the Christ,' or There [He is],' do not believe [him]. 24"For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect. 25"Behold, I have told you in advance. 26"So if they say to you, 'Behold, He is in the wilderness,' do not go out, [or], 'Behold, He is in the inner rooms,' do not believe [them].

  • OK there will be false prophets - he is telling us!
  • Listen to what he is saying in the next verse

27"For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes even to the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be. 28"Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.

  • IN other words - his coming will NOT be secret!!
  • Every eye will see him - Rev 1:7
  • They will see the Son of Man coming - Luke 21:27
  • Does this sound like Left Behind to you?? - there are two explanations
    • this isn’t the rapture but the second coming
    • there isn’t a secret rapture….. just one at the end of all of this that will happen very much in the open.
  • Where ever the corpse is - this is a direct allusion to the death that will occur as he comes to the battle we know as Armageddon

The Glorious Return

29"But immediately after the tribulation of those days THE SUN WILL BE DARKENED, AND THE MOON WILL NOT GIVE ITS LIGHT, AND THE STARS WILL FALL from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.  30"And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will seethe SON OF MAN COMING ON THE CLOUDS OF THE SKY with power and great glory. 31"And He will send forth His angels with A GREAT TRUMPET and THEY WILL GATHER TOGETHER His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.

  • This is the Second Coming of Jesus
  • Is This is the 7th trumpet in Rev 11? - many of the same things will happen, a trumpet sounded,  an earth quake etc
  • the rapture will be in the twinkling of an eye but there are days of the sounding of the seventh trumpet” a lot will happen as a part of the second coming
    • this is what leads many to separate the the second coming and the rapture into two events.
    • it may be that - or it may be that the rapture is instantaneous but the second coming is a process

Parable of the Fig Tree

32"Now learn the parable from the fig tree: when its branch has already become tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near; 33so, you too, when you see all these things, recognize that He is near, [right] at the door.34"Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. 35"Heaven and earth will passaway, but My words will not pass away.

  • Many believe this is a prophecy about Israel becoming a nation again - it may be!
  • some would say Jesus was talking about the destruction of Jerusalem in this passage because he says “this generation” will not pass away - well this is a difficult passage
    • he may have been referring back to the question “when will these things take place" to the destruction of the temple and not his second coming
    • he may be saying the generation that sees “the fig tree put forth its leaves” will be the generation that sees his second coming
      • the fig tree might be Israel as a nation - 1948
      • it might be the Jerusalem in the hands of Israel - 1967
      • it might be the rebuilding of the temple - ?????

36"But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.

  • The wedding ceremony - it was the Father who gave the groom the go ahead to get the bride

37"For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. 38"For as in those days before the flood they were eatingand drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39and they did not understanduntil the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be. 40"Then there will be two men in the field; one will be taken and one will be left. 41"Two women [will be] grinding at the mill; one will be taken and onewill be left.

Be Ready for His Coming

42"Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming.

  • If you hear nothing else all day today HEAR THIS!!!  WATCH!!!!!! you do not know the day!

43"But be sure of this, that if the head of the house had known at what time of the night the thief was coming, he would have been on the alert and would not have allowed his house to be broken into. 44"For this reason you also must be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think [He will].

  • He is coming unexpectantly!  be constantly ready.

45"Who then is the faithful and sensible slave whom his master put in charge of his household to give them their food at the proper time? 46"Blessed is that slave whom his master finds so doing when he comes. 47"Truly I say to you that he will put him in charge of all his possessions. 48"But if that evil slave says in his heart, My master is not coming for a long time,' 49and begins to beat his fellow slaves and eat and drink with drunkards; 50the master of that slave will comeon a day when he does not expect [him] and at an hour which he does not know, 51and will cut him in pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

  • This is a another super scary verse - that is Jesus decision - he wanted it to be scary
  • Be ready to give an account all the time
  • you don’t get to just forget what you are about!

The End of the World (as we know it) session 2 - Dan 7 and 8

Dan 7

1In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel saw a dream and visions in his mind [as he lay] on his bed; then he wrotethe dream down [and] related the [following] summary of it.

  • In the first year of Belshazzar - the grandson of Nebuchadnezzar - it has been around 20 years since Neb died. - the kings that succeeded Neb were useless and Bel was the worst.
  • It has been around 50 years since the vision of Daniel 2

2Daniel said, "I was looking in my vision by night, and behold, the four winds of heaven were stirring up the great sea.

  • Old men will dream dreams Joel said Daniel was an old man by this time
  • the four winds of Heaven - God is the ruler of history and the shaper of the destinies of men - the wind of heaven is the spirit of God he stirs - he moves - he controls
  • the great sea - the picture of the masses of humanity the nations.

3"And four great beasts were coming up from the sea, different from oneanother.

  • These beasts each represent an empire
  • They come up in succession one replacing another
  • They differ dramatically from one another
  • pay attention to the similarities between these beasts and the kingdoms of Daniel’s first vision - they are the same!

4"The first [was] like a lion and had [the] wings of an eagle. - This is Babylon

  • Like a lion -
    • the king of beasts - wild and strong, majestic and ferocious - dominant predator
    • even the color - golden like the golden head of the statue from chapter 2
  • wings of an eagle -
    • the eagle is a symbol of swiftness - quick conquest and rulership
    • a symbol of the prophetic - Neb had the dreams

I kept looking until its wings were plucked, and it was liftedup from the ground and made to stand on two feet like a man;a human mind also was given to it.

  • The power was not yet diminished but the speed of conquest was removed
  • then the ferocity was diminished
  • and wisdom was given to it that it did not have before - the end of Nebs life he grew wise although the later kings were fools.

5"And behold, another beast, a second one, resembling a bear. And it was raised up on one side, and three ribs [were] in its mouth between its teeth; and thusthey said to it, 'Arise, devour much meat! - This is the kingdom of the Medes and the Persians who conquered Babylon

  • Bear - fierce and powerful but lacking the majesty of a lion
  • Raised up on one side - seems to be rising from a position of rest and reaching out - it was laying dormant or quiet and now has been roused to action
  • three ribs in its mouth - MedoPersia conquered for a while but then stopped for a time before attacking Babylon - the ribs are a picture of the feast it just had
  • commanded Arise and devour - once it began attacking again it did not stop until it was defeated - Babylon then the rest of the world then the attack on Greece made so famous in "300"

6"After this I kept looking, and behold, another one, like a leopard, which had on its back four wings of a bird; the beast also had four heads, and dominion was given to it. - This is the Greek Kingdom begun by Alexander the Great

  • The Leopard - considered next in dignity to the lion - clever and sneaky
  • Four wings - twice as speedy as the lion
  • Four heads - when Alexander died it was divided between his four generals

7"After this I kept looking in the nightvisions, and behold, a fourth beast, dreadful and terrifying and extremely strong; and it had large iron teeth. It devoured and crushed and trampled down the remainder with its feet; - This was Rome

  • Dreadful and terrifying - the most dreadful conquests in human history
  • extremely strong - iron - hard and unyielding
  • large iron teeth - as the picture from the statue strong beyond strong
  • devoured and crushed and trampled - the Roman empire didnt just conquer it MADE THEM ROMANS - bringing in Roman culture and ideas

and it was different from all the beasts that were before it, and it had tenhorns.

  • Now we make the switch from ROME of ancient times to Rome of future time - truly Rome has never ceased to rule culturally

8"While I was contemplating the horns, behold, another horn, a little one, came up among them, and three of the firsthorns were pulled out by the roots before it; and behold, this horn possessed eyes like the eyes of a man and a mouth utteringgreat [boasts].

  • will leave the rest of this interpretation until the angel interprets for us at the end of the chapter

The Ancient of Days Reigns

9"I kept looking Until thrones were set up, And the Ancient of Days took [His] seat; His vesture [was] like white snow And the hairof His head like pure wool. His throne [was] ablaze with flames, Its wheels [were] a burning fire.

  • This is the scene of judgement at the end of the age
  • thrones were set up means - His throne and the throne of those who would sit in judgment with him,  Saints and angels and heavenly authorities
  • The Ancient of Days - God himself the most ancient one
  • His vesture - his robe and clothing - were white speaking of holiness and purity
  • His hair was white - speaking of age and wisdom
  • His throne was ablaze - he was fiery and passionate - his heart is burning

10"A river of fire was flowing And coming out from before Him; Thousands upon thousands were attending Him, And myriadsupon myriads were standing before Him; The court sat, And the books were opened.

  • a river of fire - no clue but awesome
  • he was attended by an UNCOUTABLE Number - these are his servants - and those being judged
  • the court sat - the cases were heard
  • the books were opened -
    • the lambs book of life
    • the book of remembrance Malachi 3:16
    • who knows what other books there are?

11"Then I kept looking because of the sound of the boastful words which the horn was speaking; I kept looking until the beastwas slain, and its body was destroyed and given to the burning fire.

  • the sound of the boastful words the Horn was speaking - we’ll talk about it in a minute

12"As for the rest of the beasts, their dominion was takenaway, but an extension of life was granted to them for an appointed period of time.

  • the other beasts will lose their power but they will continue to exist in some form for a time
  • perhaps this means that the nations will exist under the rule of Jesus but will not have power as empires or nations but just as states in Jesus kingdom - or cultures in Jesus kingdom
    • in Revelation it says every nation tribe and tongue will worship Jesus so they will still exist
    • in the millennial kingdom all the kingdoms of the earth come to give tribute to Jesus the king of the whole earth

The Son of Man Presented

13"I kept looking in the night visions, And behold, with the clouds of heaven One like a Son of Man was coming, And He came up to the Ancient of Days And was presented before Him.

  • with the clouds of Heaven - Jesus quoted this verse Matt24:30 and Mark 14:62 - proclaiming that he himself was the one that would come
  • He came up to His Father God - He was presented and found WORTHY

14"And to Him was given dominion, Glory and a kingdom, That all the peoples, nations and [men of every] language Might serveHim. His dominion is an everlasting dominion Which will not pass away; And His kingdom is one Which will not be destroyed.

  • He is given Dominion - rulership, authority
  • He is given Glory - honor and reputation
  • and a kingdom
  • all humans now serve Him
  • His authority never ends after that
  • His kingdom is not capable of being destroyed

The Vision Interpreted

15"As for me, Daniel, my spirit was distressed within me, and the visions in my mind kept alarming me.

  • he was deeply troubled by these visions - they stirred him.  He was shaken
  • he didn’t understand

16"I approached one of those who were standing by and began asking him the exact meaning of all this. So he told me and made known to me the interpretation of these things:

  • He was still in a visionary state - “in the spirit” and the angels were there so he questioned one of them
  • Angels often are given the authority to reveal God to us

17These great beasts, which are four [in number], are four kings [who] will arise from the earth.

18But the saints of the Highest One will receive the kingdom and possess the kingdom forever, for all ages to come.'

  • That is the overview - the point of the vision - the saints of the highest one will possess the kingdom forever!!!
  • saints - holy ones
  • Highest One - El Elyon - The Supreme or most high

19"Then I desired to know the exact meaning of the fourth beast, which was different from all the others, exceedingly dreadful, with its teeth of iron and its claws of bronze, [and which] devoured, crushed and trampled down the remainder with its feet,

20and [the meaning] of the ten horns that [were] on its head and the other [horn] which came up, and before which three [of them] fell, namely, that horn which had eyes and a mouth uttering great [boasts] and which was larger in appearance than its associates.21"I kept looking, and that horn was waging war with the saints and overpowering them 22until the Ancient of Days came and judgment was passed in favor of the saints of the Highest One, and the time arrived when the saints took possession of the kingdom.

  • He wanted to know specifically about the fourth beast - it was not like the others - it was the most terrible - it was not like anything he had seen or known about

23"Thus he said: 'The fourth beast will be a fourth kingdom on the earth, which will be different from all the [other] kingdoms and will devour the whole earth and tread it down and crush it.

  • This beast was not like anything anyone has ever seen
  • the other beasts were familiar, if ferocious - lion bear leopard - we’ve seen these before
  • we have never seen anything like this beast
  • we have never seen anything like this kingdom - it is exceedingly strong and terrible
  • This kingdom starts out as Ancient Rome - we know that from the descriptions in Dan 2 and from later in Daniel but it extends to the End time Antichrist Kingdom - a revived Roman empire.
  • Rome has never been surpassed in strength or size or duration it devoured and tread down and crushed everything it came in contact with.
  • The kingdom of the Antichrist will go further
  • the evil of the Antichrist kingdom will supersede anything in human history - Hitler, Stalin, etc - all nothing in comparison to the wickedness of this kingdom and this king

24As for the ten horns, out of this kingdom ten kings will arise; and another will arise after them, and he will be different from the previous ones and will subdue three kings.

  • The ten horns are ten kings - “arising out of this kingdom” these are not ten kings in a row - these ten kings will rule together - this is how we know we have not seen this part of the Roman empire yet - the will rule together
  • the little horn will arise AFTER THEM - so they will be ruling together then this little horn will arise
  • it is a little horn - he will not begin as a powerful leader - he will begin small in the midst of the ten kings
  • three of the first horns will be uprooted before it - He will KILL three of the ten kings that are ruling
  • he “possessed eyes like a man” - intelligence and foresight
  • he “had a mouth that uttered boastful things” - he will speak high and stirring rhetoric - the talk of Nimrod and Babel - "we will build a city, we will build a tower to Heaven, we will gain ourselves a Name” - human power and glory over that of the most high - he is the incarnation of the spirit of antichrist

25He will speak out against the Most High and wear down the saints of the Highest One, and he will intend to make alterations in times and in law;and they will be given into his hand for a time, times, and half a time.

  • This is the boastful language of Antichrist - speaking out against the most high - belittling the Glory of God
  • wear down the saints - he will make war on the saints and, he was winning until judgment came from the Ancient of Days
  • intend alterations
    • in times - feasts, holidays, calendars - Rome did all of these and the Antichrist will also
    • in law - over and in regards to religion in particular - who can worship who or what - Again Rome did all this and the Antichrist will do MORE

26But the court will sit [for judgment], and his dominion will be taken away, annihilated and destroyed forever.

  • In the end he will be removed by God and destroyed

27Then the sovereignty, the dominion and the greatness of [all] the kingdomsunder the whole heaven will be given to the people of the saints of the Highest One; His kingdom [will be] an everlastingkingdom, and all the dominions will serve and obey Him.'

  • THEN the saints will rule with Jesus
  • all of the earth
  • for all of time

28"At this point the revelation ended. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts were greatly alarming me and my face grew pale, but I keptthe matter

Dan 8

Next Vision - Chapter 8 comes 2 years later

1In the third year of the reign of Belshazzar the king a vision appeared to me, Daniel, subsequent to the one which appeared to me previously.

2I looked in the vision, and while I was looking I was in the citadel of Susa, which is in the province of Elam; and I looked in the vision and I myself was beside the Ulai Canal.

  • We will read the vision first and unpack it with the angel in verse 15 and following -

3Then I lifted my eyes and looked, and behold, a ram which had two horns was standing in front of the canal. Now the two horns [were] long, but one [was] longer than the other, with the longer onecoming up last. 4I saw the ram butting westward, northward, and southward, and no [other] beasts could stand before him norwas there anyone to rescue from his power, but he did as he pleased and magnified [himself].

5While I was observing, behold, a male goat was coming from the west over the surface of the whole earth without touching the ground; and the goat [had] a conspicuous horn between his eyes. 6He came up to the ram that had the two horns, which I had seen standing in front of the canal, and rushed at him in his mighty wrath. 7I saw him come beside the ram, and he was enragedat him; and he struck the ram and shattered his two horns, and the ram had no strength to withstand him. So he hurled him to the ground and trampled on him, and there was none to rescue the ram from his power. 8Then the male goat magnified [himself] exceedingly. But as soon as he was mighty, the large horn was broken; and in its place there came up four conspicuous [horns] toward the four winds of heaven.9Out of one of them came forth a rather small horn which grew exceedingly great toward the south, toward the east, and towardthe Beautiful [Land]. 10It grew up to the host of heaven and caused some of the host and some of the stars to fall to the earth, and it trampled them down. 11It even magnified [itself] to be equal with the Commander of the host; and it removed the regularsacrifice from Him, and the place of His sanctuary was thrown down. 12And on account of transgression the host will be givenover [to the horn] along with the regular sacrifice; and it will fling truth to the ground and perform [its will] and prosper. 13Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to that particular one who was speaking, "How long will the vision [about] the regular sacrifice apply, while the transgression causes horror, so as to allow both the holy place and the host to be trampled?"14He said to me, "For 2,300 evenings [and] mornings; then the holy place will be properly restored."

Interpretation of the Vision

15When I, Daniel, had seen the vision, I sought to understand it; and behold, standing before me was one who looked like a man.

  • I believe this is Jesus commanding Gabriel to communicate with humanity for the first time

16And I heard the voice of a man between [the banks of] Ulai, and he called out and said, "Gabriel, give this [man] an understanding of the vision."

  • This is the first time Gabriel is mentioned in scripture - Gabriel seems to have a connection to thing having to do with messiah

17So he came near to where I was standing, and when he came I was frightened and fell on my face; but he said to me, "Son of man, understand that the vision pertains to the time of the end."

  • Gabriel is glorious - Daniel is frightened by him
  • Please hear this!!! this is about the end times!  This vision shows the path to the Antichrist through Alexanders kingdom - this was NOT fulfilled earlier than that - there are those who believe it was.

18Now while he was talking with me, I sank into a deep sleep with my face to the ground; but he touched me and made me standupright. 19He said, "Behold, I am going to let you know what will occur at the final period of the indignation, for [it] pertains to the appointed time of the end.

  • He is strengthened by Gabriel to hear this
  • he is told this is about the “final period of indignation” - this is the first mention of the abomination of desolation which will be revealed much more fully later and it totally connected to Antichrist
  • AGAIN - this is at the time of the end - that’s twice now we have been told

The Ram’s Identity

20"The ram which you saw with the two horns represents the kings of Media and Persia.

  • No questions now - its the Medes and Persians

The Goat

21"The shaggy goat [represents] the kingdom of Greece, and the large horn that is between his eyes is the first king.

  • This is Alexander the Great
  • he moved unbelievably fast - “without touching the ground"

22"The broken [horn] and the four [horns that] arose in its place [represent] four kingdoms [which] will arise from [his] nation, although not with his power.

  • When Alexander died he left no heir and appointed no successor - his generals split the kingdom into 4 kingdoms

23"In the latter period of their rule, When the transgressors have run [their course], A king will arise, Insolent and skilled in intrigue.

24"His power will be mighty, but not by his [own] power, And he will destroy to an extraordinary degree And prosper and perform[his will]; He will destroy mighty men and the holy people.

  • He is GIVEN power for this particular moment in history - but even his power is limited by God
  • He will seem endlessly powerful - he will SAY he is endlessly powerful - but Christ will come and destroy him in the end

25"And through his shrewdness He will cause deceit to succeed by his influence;

  • This is the “Great delusion” that is spoken of in 2 Thes 2 - God sends a strong delusion - the Antichrist is the carrier of this delusion
  • Jesus said that even some of the elect would be fooled by him - Matt 24

And he will magnify [himself] in his heart,

  • he will believe his own press - as they say - he will buy into his own lies about himself

And he will destroy many while [they are] at ease.

  • If we are not watchful we will be pulled into this delusion!

He will even oppose the Prince of princes

  • He will oppose Christ directly - in word and in dead and finally and ultimately at Armageddon -

But he will be broken without humanagency.

  • he will be sent to the lake of fire

26"The vision of the evenings and mornings Which has been told is true; But keep the vision secret, For [it] pertains to many days[in the future]."

  • so he is told to “shut up the book” because it is about future days

27Then I, Daniel, was exhausted and sick for days. Then I got up [again] and carried on the king's business; but I was astoundedat the vision, and there was none to explain [it].

  • Is this Antiochus epiphanies? - yes and no.
    • Biblical prophecy often has two fulfillments - a shadow or type and then the ultimate fulfillment later
    • I believe Antiochus was an attempt by Satan to raise up Antichrist - 1 John 2:18 says there have been and are many anitchrists -
      • Satan does not know the times appointed by God any better than we do
      • he has attempted many times to raise this leader up and has been thwarted by God - by the one who holds it back (2 Thes 2) WE DONT KNOW WHO THIS IS FOR SURE.
    • YES -

      • i. Antiochus Epiphanes exerted his dominion toward the south, toward the east, and toward the land of Israel.
ii. Antiochus Epiphanes murdered other rulers and persecuted the people of Israel (cast down some of the host and some of the stars to the ground, and trampled them).
iii. Antiochus Epiphanes blasphemed God and commanded idolatrous worship directed towards himself (exalted himself as high as the Prince of the host).
iv. Antiochus Epiphanes put a stop to temple sacrifices in Jerusalem (by him the daily sacrifices were taken away).
        v. Antiochus Epiphanes desecrated the temple (the place of His sanctuary was cast down).
vi. Antiochus Epiphanes opposed God and seemed to prosper (he cast truth down to the ground. He did all this and prospered).

    • NO -
      • the 2300 days thing doesn’t really fit very well - there are a couple ways you can look at it but it never fits perfectly
      • Gabriel told Daniel twice that this was a prophecy about the end times - Antiochus came over 100 years before Jesus.
      • the passages about rising up to the Heavens and throwing down stars etc - feel stretched if they apply to Antiochus - but not so much with Antichrist
      • He did not throw down the sanctuary - he robbed it but did not destroy it

The End of the World (as we know it) session 1

http://prezi.com/aio44x3z-9_d/?utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=copy

Why Study the End Times

  • there are 150 chapters in the Bible that have to do specifically with the end times - I put the hand out in your packet
  • it was taught by Jesus and by the disciples to ALL of the followers of Jesus in the early church
  • "encourage one another with these words” 1 Thess 4:18
  • God has been thinking about this since EDEN
  • Rom 8:18-23 - the inward groaning and the groan of creation EAGERLY ANTICIPATES unveiling of the plan of God
  • ALL the promises of God are fulfilled
  • The revelation of Jesus Christ

Daniel 2 -

You all know the story of Daniel - he was possibly the greatest end times prophet in the history of the world.  He was revered as a prophet by many cultures and still to this day is revered even by the Muslims and others.

Daniel 2:31-45 - this is the first time that Daniel is given a picture of the future of mankind - the rest of his visions are really elucidations of this one vision so we start here.

Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream -

31"You, O king, were looking and behold, there was a single great statue; that statue, which was large and of extraordinarysplendor, was standing in front of you, and its appearance was awesome. 32"The head of that statue [was made] of fine gold, its breast and its arms of silver, its belly and its thighs of bronze, 33its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay. 34"You continued looking until a stone was cut out without hands, and it struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay and crushed them.35"Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver and the gold were crushed all at the same time and became like chaff from the summer threshing floors; and the wind carried them away so that not a trace of them was found. But the stone that struck the statue became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.

Nebuchadnezzar had been given this dream by God - fascinating really.  Why would God give this pagan king a dream of this magnitude?

  • Babylon was the first great empire in the earth and the area of Babylon was the first great concentration of human civilization
  • Babylon was the site apparently of the tower of Babel - the first time when human authority was raised up against the authority of God and the birthplace of the spirit of Antichrist in King Nimrod - Gen 11
  • Babylon is what (we will see in Revelation the Kingdom of the antichrist is called by John and to John, although it may not be called that when it arises)
  • Here we see the seeds of the end being sown - Neb was a descendant of that power and the most powerful of any Babylonian king vs 37 you oh king are the king of kings"
  • This was a warning from God not to think too highly of himself - he doesnt listen - in just a few chapters he is punished for his pride with 7 years of madness

36"This [was] the dream; now we will tell its interpretation before the king. 37"You, O king, are the king of kings, to whom the Godof heaven has given the kingdom, the power, the strength and the glory; 38and wherever the sons of men dwell, [or] the beasts of the field, or the birds of the sky, He has given [them] into your hand and has caused you to rule over them all. You are the head of gold.

  • YOU are the head of Gold - Solid Gold - the King had supreme authority that could not be questioned - what he said was law - period - that rarely happened elsewhere in history.
  • Here in Babylon at the birthplace of the human rejection of Gods provision and authority dwelt the purest essence of that wicked spirit that we will not see in full manfestation until the antichrist - we will talk more about this in 2 Thess.
  • It is from Babylon that all pagan religions derive - the Gods of the Greeks and the Romans were derivations of the Babylonian gods and worship practices.
  • It is from Babylon that the oldest written human codes of law are born - Hammurabi’s Code
  • Not all of the empires across the earth are mentioned in this dream or in the book of Daniel - Daniels prophecy concerns the empires that are connected with Israel and the Babylon region.

39"After you there will arise another kingdom inferior to you,

  •  The Medes and the Persians take over Babylon before the end of Daniels life in Dan 5 we see the fulfillment of this prophecy

then another third kingdom of bronze, which will rule over all the earth.

  • The Greek Empire of Alexander the Great and those who came after him
  • ALL the Earth means all the earth that they had knowledge of

40"Then there will be a fourth kingdom as strong as iron; inasmuch as iron crushes and shatters all things, so, like iron that breaks in pieces, it will crush and break all these in pieces.

  • The Roman Empire which at it’s end broke into two pieces

41"In that you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter's clay and partlyof iron, it will be a divided kingdom; but it will have in it the toughness of iron, inasmuch as you saw the iron mixed with commonclay. 42"[As] the toes of the feet [were] partly of iron and partly of pottery, [so] some of the kingdom will be strong and part of it will be brittle.

43"And in that you saw the iron mixed with common clay, they will combine with one another in the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, even as iron does not combine with pottery.

  • The final empire flows from the Roman empire - all of the countries in those regions are still what Rome shaped them to be.
  • No other empire since then has conquered all of that part of the world
  • There have been strong and weak nations all mixed together strong and weak governments - but none that has erased the influence of the spirit of the Roman empire
  • The Antichrist himself will be connected somehow to the Roman spirit and season.
  • ten toes on the feet are the ten kings spoken of in later prophecy which we will see later in Daniel and Revelation

44"In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which will never be destroyed, and [that] kingdom will not be left for another people; it will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, but it will itself endure forever. 45"Inasmuch as you saw that a stone was cut out of the mountain without hands and that it crushed the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver and the gold, the great God has made known to the king what will take place in the future; so the dream is true and its interpretation is trustworthy."

  • IN THOSE DAYS - in the days of the ten kings - the final empire
  • God will set up a kingdom!  The Kingdom of Jesus
    • It will crush the authority of man
    • It will crush the anitchrist spirit forever
    • it was cut without hands - no man will establish this kingdom - only God
    • it will end all other rulers - fill the whole earth
    • it will endure forever!

His next vision that is recorded does not come for a long time - probably around 50 years later

MTC - Don't Waste Your Life Week 4

For some reason the audio I recorded for this class was deleted... but it was a great class here are the notes:

Don’t Waste Your Life.

Chapter 4 Magnifying Christ through pain and death.

I.       Introduction

    1. Two Books

1.”Why Suffering” by Ravi Zacharias and Vince Vitale

2.”The Cost of Discipleship” by Dietrich Bonhoeffer

                  B. Paul’s letter to Philippi

                  C. The world’s view of pain and death

                              1. God can not exist

                              2. This becomes a moral dilemma. (pain and suffering assumes evil, evil assumes a moral law with which to determine good and evil, a moral law requires a moral law giver. If there is no moral law giver then there is no moral law, no moral law means there is not any way to determine good and evil, so who’s to say what’s good or bad?)

A few statements from Bonhoeffer in his book Ethics: The knowledge of good and evil is therefore separation from God. Only against God can man know good and evil.

He interprets himself according to his possibilities, his possibilities of being good or evil, and he therefore conceives himself to be the origin of good and evil.

Originally man was made in the image of God, but now his likeness to God is a stolen one. As the image of God, man draws his life entirely from his origin in God, but the man who has become like God has forgotten how he was at his origin and has made himself his own creator and judge.

This does not mean that he has acquired new knowledge in addition to what he knew before, but the knowledge of good and evil signifies the complete reversal of man’s knowledge, which hitherto had been solely knowledge of God as his origin. In knowing good and evil he knows what only the origin, God himself, can know and ought to know.

To know good and evil is to know oneself as the origin of good and evil, as the origin of an eternal choice and election.

II.     Christ magnified through pain and death (a life not wasted)

  1. Taking up our cross Mark 8:34
  2. Bearing the cross Luke 14:27
  3. What about the change. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgpEwGoSLB8
  4. Bonhoeffer (“When God calls a man, he bids him come and die”)

(It’s not about the execution, but what the execution represents. The wages of sin is death. We are now living proof of what Christ died for.) Page 63

See hope video

III.    Paradoxes (pages 63-64) rejoice in suffering

  1. 2 Corinthians 6:10
  2. Paul’s Passion
    1. 1 Corinthians 2:2
    2. Galatians 6:14
  3. If we know how to die well, we will know how to live well. If Christ is not made much of in our lives, they are wasted. We exist to make Him appear in the world as what He really is ----- Magnificent!

      IV.    Shame as treasure

  1. Christ honored through us
  2. Dying to magnify Christ (what will be said of you when you die?)
  3. Peter’s input
  4. Philippians 1:23 (to die is to be with Christ)
  5. Living Well (fruitful labor)

Christ will be praised in my death, if in my death He is prized above life.

    1. Producing fruit in ourselves
    2. Fruit in others
    3. Increasing faith (He is all we need)
  1. Dying everyday (“Holy Sweat” by Tim Hansel)

Quotes from Tim’s book: The Christian life is not what it seems. Oftentimes we can become (sometimes without even being aware of it) committed to our own happy idea about the Christian faith. We become addicted to comfort and convenience, the good life, convinced it is somehow related to the truth of scripture. Deep down, e want to believe that if we’re Christians we should be good people and good things should happen to us.

Some of us really believe that the point of Christianity is to look good and have a good Christian reputation. But the kingdom of God is a life-changing, life-transforming experience. It’s more than just nice.

We often hear that Daniel’s faith got him out of the lion’s den, but we forget that is also what got him into the lion’s den.

    1. comfort
    2. security
    3. reputation
    4. health
    5. family
    6. friends
    7. wealth
    8. Homeland (If we were no longer a free nation would it affect your position in Christ?)
    9. Read Jeremiah 17:8 “no fear when the heat is on”
  1. Making much of Christ
    1. James 1:2-4 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFHfoEadyz0 Steve Camp He covers me) though the trials never end I’ve learned to take them as my friend. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYJMG1bts0c SCC bring it on)
    2. Handling loss shows our beliefs
    3. Running from pain is wasting life
    4. No matter where we find ourselves our faith can’t be shaken.
  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unlF2jrLzhQ much of you by Steven Curtis Chapman
  3. Conclusion
    1. sacrifice vs. suicide
    2. God’s promise and design 2 Timothy 3:12
    3. The Calvary road

Wednesday Night Class - 2 Peter 3:1-9

We are in the end times.  Peter advises his people to remember what God has to say about the end of the world

  1. 1This is now, beloved, the second letter I am writing to you in which I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder,

    • these are not things they had not heard before - he is REMINDING THEM
    • eschatology seemed to be a point of great importance in the teaching of the early church - both Paul (in both books to the Thessalonians) and Peter made the teaching of the end times a priority when planting a church - when converting a person
    • He would remind them of this teaching - among others
  2. 2that you should remember the words spoken beforehand by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior[spoken] by your apostles.
    • The last days were spoken of by the prophets in the OT, by Christ himself, and by the apostles - this teaching should be known and understood by the church of all ages and generations
  3. 3Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with [their] mocking, following after their own lusts,
  4. 4and saying,"Where is the promise of His coming? For [ever] since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation."

    • where is the promise of his coming? - dont we hear this?  even in the church!
    • since the Fathers fell asleep - the old men died believing this would come even in their time!  They were waiting for something that never came!
    • all continues just as it was from the beginning - this is the argument of the evolutionary theory - Im not saying that he was prophesying evolution but this is the philosophy BEHIND the evolutionary theory AND the spirit behind it as well
    • Its never rained before! - I hear Misty edwards singing lol
    • nothing is ever going to change - we will not be held accountable - I hear the foolish ones from Psalm 94 - "The God of Jacob does not see"
  5. 5For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God [the] heavens existed long ago and [the] earth was formed out of water and by water,

    • it escapes their notice - i love this jab.  Oh you are so smart?  you are oblivious to the obvious truth!  It was BY the WORD of GOD that all things were formed.
    • waters Peter is referring to the waters talked about in Genesis 1 - "the spirit was hovering over the face of the deep  God called the land out of the waters.
    • He uses the term poetically - this isn’t a science lesson - because it was then water that destroyed it all.
  6. 6through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water.

    • we understand what he is talking about here - God did it before and he will do it again!
    • there was apparently a new discovery of a layer in the earths core that contains enough water to fill the oceans 3 times over - fascinating!
  7. 7But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

    • I find this language interesting - reserved for fire - God has promised that he would not flood the earth again - he did NOT promise that he would not destroy the earth again.
    • be careful of people that will tell you the earth is not going to be destroyed - there are a lot of people saying that right now - God is too GOOD to destroy the world - or to see people go to Hell” - they do not understand the ugliness of sin nor the holiness of God and they are holding the worth of men as higher than the worth of God which is above all!
  8. 8But do not let this one [fact] escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.

    • in other words - do not pretend you know when the end is going to come!!!
    • This thing is running on Gods clock not ours!
  9. 9The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

    • The patience of God is being manifested in this present hour but it will run out eventually - Gen 6:3 - "my Spirit shall not strive with man forever"

    • there is a day coming and sooner than we expect when God will call the time - and the unfolding of judgement will begin.

    1. Gods purpose in the end times
      1. to reveal his glory - this is the reason behind all the others
      2. to reveal the ugliness of sin
      3. to show that man cannot rule himself completely outside of God and succeed

Song of Songs Ch 4

1"How beautiful you are, my darling, How beautiful you are! Your eyes are [like] doves behind your veil; Your hair is like a flock of goats That have descended from Mount Gilead.

Here the voice of Jesus singing over you! - He desires you - that is reality - he finds you enjoyable - beautiful even

2"Your teeth are like a flock of [newly] shorn ewes Which have come up from [their] washing, All of which bear twins, And not one among them has lost her young.3"Your lips are like a scarlet thread, And your mouth is lovely. Your temples are like a slice of a pomegranate Behind your veil.

4"Your neck is like the tower of David, Built with rows of stones On which are hung a thousand shields, All the round shieldsof the mighty men.

5"Your two breasts are like two fawns, Twins of a gazelle Which feed among the lilies.

There may be symbolic meanings here but I am not going into them now.  The point is that he knows every part of her.  He is familiar with everything about her AND HE ENJOYS every part of her.

we so often feel like there might be PART of us that God enjoys but that there are other realities in us he despises or wishes weren’t there.  Not the case.  He sees it all and he is delighted by it all.

6"Until the cool of the day When the shadows flee away, I will go my way to the mountain of myrrh And to the hill of frankincense.

The Lord comes to us to enjoy us.  He spends time thinking about us. He cherishes the time we spend together - the mountain of myrrh are our places of difficulty the hill of frankincense is our rejoicing.  In both our bad times and good he adores us and we bring him joy.

7"You are altogether beautiful, my darling, And there is no blemish in you.

We simply don’t believe he means this - how can he say that when we are so flawed???

8"[Come] with me from Lebanon, [my] bride, May you come with me from Lebanon. Journey down from the summit of Amana,From the summit of Senir and Hermon, From the dens of lions, From the mountains of leopards.

9"You have made my heart beat faster, my sister, [my] bride; You have made my heart beat faster with a single [glance] of your eyes, With a single strand of your necklace.

WHAT? I have stirred the emotions of Him?  The Gen 1 God.  The bigger than the universe God?  My attention.  The gaze of my heart stirs the heart of the uncreated - help me believe this

10"How beautiful is your love, my sister, [my] bride! How much better is your love than wine, And the fragrance of your oilsThan all [kinds] of spices!

All things that are enjoyable -  my love is better - the overflows of my heart delight him.  He is

11"Your lips, [my] bride, drip honey; Honey and milk are under your tongue, And the fragrance of your garments is like the fragrance of Lebanon.

The fruit of my lips - my songs  - my prayers - they are sweet and refreshing to him - Lebanon was known for its cedar trees - the pine smell

12"A garden locked is my sister, [my] bride, A rock garden locked, a spring sealed up.

ONLY for Him.  All my delights are ONLY for Him

13"Your shoots are an orchard of pomegranates With choice fruits, henna with nard plants,

14Nard and saffron, calamus and cinnamon, With all the trees of frankincense, Myrrh and aloes, along with all the finestspices.

15"[You are] a garden spring, A well of fresh water, And streams [flowing] from Lebanon."

All of the treasures of my heart belong to Him and him alone

16"Awake, O north [wind], And come, [wind of] the south; Make my garden breathe out [fragrance], Let its spices be waftedabroad. May my beloved come into his garden And eat its choice fruits!"

A call to the Holy Spirit - bring me Jesus!  If he is delighted by me let me delight him. Let him kiss me.
